Import a PDF statement

Piastro can read PDF statements produced by your bank directly. Just drop the file — Piastro automatically detects the format without you having to select anything.

Good to know

PDF import is available on the Essential and Complete plans. On the Discovery plan, use CSV import.

Supported sources

Four bank / account-type combinations are supported:

  • Desjardins — credit card Monthly statement downloadable from AccèsD → Credit card → Statements.
  • Desjardins — chequing account Statement downloadable from AccèsD → Account → Account statements.
  • BMO — Mastercard Statement downloadable from BMO Online Banking → Cards → Statements.
  • BMO — chequing account Statement downloadable from BMO Online Banking → Accounts → Statements.

Automatic detection

You don't need to manually specify your bank or account type. Piastro analyzes the PDF header and automatically selects the right extractor. If the format is not recognized, a clear error message will tell you.

How to import a PDF

  1. In Piastro, go to Transactions → Import → PDF.

  2. Select one or more PDF files from your computer.

  3. Piastro automatically detects the format and shows a preview of the extracted transactions.

  4. Review the transactions (category, amount, date) and start the import.

Limits and behavior

  • Only official statements produced by the bank are supported — PDFs printed from a screen or screenshots will not work.
  • Duplicates are automatically detected: importing the same statement twice does not create duplicate transactions.
  • If a file is not recognized, Piastro displays an error message — contact support to report a new format.
