Auto-categorization

Piastro analyzes the description of each transaction and automatically assigns a category (food, transport, entertainment…). You can correct it and create rules for next time.

How does it work?

  1. Piastro extracts keywords from the bank description.
  2. A lightweight model compares these keywords against a rules base.
  3. The most likely category is automatically assigned.
  4. You can correct the category — Piastro learns from your corrections.

Categorization examples

Bank description Assigned category
AMAZON EU SARL Online shopping
VIA RAIL CANADA Transport
METRO GROCERY Groceries
NETFLIX.COM Subscriptions

Custom rules

Create your own rules in Settings → Rules to automatically assign a category to a specific description.

Correct a category

If Piastro assigns the wrong category to a transaction, you can correct it directly:

  1. Click the transaction to open it.
  2. Change the category in the dropdown.
  3. Piastro will offer to create a keyword so similar future transactions are categorized correctly.

Manage keywords and categories

You can configure your categories and associated keywords in depth from the settings. For a complete guide:
